Virtual Preload (VPL) is a method to include multiple third party apps into DIRECTV platform images without drastically affecting our image size.
We will generate a special lightweight apk for each vendor (skinny app) and it will be included in our platform builds.
When the user opens it for the first time, it will automatically update to the standard vendor app (full app) which is directly provided by each vendor.This app is designed to simulate a "full app" for Android TV that can be downloaded from the Play Store, and is intended for use in our internal end-to-end tests.
The app will only be available to a select list of users.
It displays a static screen and does not have any logic or functionality beyond that.
Additionally, it does not track or collect any user data.
